If God is calling you to a mission trip, and the only thing holding you back is the $ amount, know that the number may seem big, but we serve a God that is even bigger. And Christmas time is the perfect opportunity to ask for support as a gift. It may mean sacrificing something else that you really wanted, but we believe that God will bless your faithfulness and obedience. 

OK, now that we have that challenge...here are the trips for next year:

Poland – March 12-19

Kenya two – October 1-11

How to Apply:

1.    Go to http://www.southeastchristian.org/serve/missions.aspx?id=5166

2.    The Post trips will not be listed on the church’s main site, but the process of applying is the same. Click on “Online Registration” to start the process.

3.    Please read all of the instructions on applying to a short-term trip. After you have, click on “Online Registration” at the bottom of the page.

4.    After you set up a login and password, you will be able to fill out the trip application. Be as thorough as you can with answering all of the questions.

5.    When you get to Step 9/Finish Page, there will be an option to choose the trip of your choice.

6.    You will receive additional instructions after you have submitted your application that must be completed by the application deadline. If you have questions about the application process, e-mail missions@secc.org or awhikehart@secc.org.

On November 24th and December 1st, we are collecting food for Southeast's Toy Drive. This drive is for families in the Louisville-area that cannot afford gifts for their children. The church wants to provide each family with a box of food, and they've asked the Post to help with this effort. We'll be collecting the following at the info booth before and after the Post:

On December 8th, one of our mission partners in Central Asia, Sozo International, has a great opportunity for us to support them this Christmas. We do a trip every year with them, but we want to support them as a community year-round. They will be selling Christmas ornaments after the Post made by widows in the refugee camp to help the economic development of a community that is desperately in need. You can view the ornaments here. Each one is $25 and would make a great Christmas present for any friend or family member.

On December 15th and 22nd, we have a drive for Jefferson Street Baptist Center. Every month, they spend $1000 on styrofoam cups, plates, napkins, plastic utensils, etc.; and we want to help alleviate some of their costs in 2010. Post members can donate these materials on either of these Tuesday nights. More information will be coming on this drive...

Details, you say? Well here they are!

--We'll be spending the day at Country Lake. If you don't know where that is, you can get directions here. There's no official carpool, but you can use the comment section of this entry to coordinate with others if you'd like!

--This event is from 1pm-8pm, which includes dinner. We're asking everyone for $5, which can be paid on the day of the event to any Post staff member.

--To make details easier, we need you to sign up for football, paintball, or both. You can do this 1 of 3 ways: in the comment section of this BLOG, at the Post INFO BOOTH on Tuesday night, or by EMAILING Laura at loverall@secc.org. Let us know your name and what you would like to participate in.

--If you aren't the athletic type, don't worry. We'll have plenty of fun things for you to do! We're planning on showing college football games all day as well.

Between the music sets, Louie Giglio was on video talking about living for God's renown and living with expectancy, and he shared with us this quote from A.W. Tozer:

"Prayer will become effective when we stop using it as a substitute for obedience."

What does this look like for the Post community? Are we gathering together to seek God's direction with anticipation that He WILL do something great? And once we do that, are we following our prayers with action, living out the Gospel to those around us who desperately need it? 

It's easy to credit ourselves for praying, leading us to believe that nothing else is required of us. But as Louie said, it would be amazing if we were living out the answers to our own prayers by stepping out in courage.
