"29"
Monday, January 5, 2009 at 3:23PM If our primary task as the church is to continue the work of Jesus, then what does that look like for us today in Louisville, KY? This is the question we will be asking in 2009, as we walk primarily through the book of Acts over the next year as a community.
Jesus lived a radical life in front of His disciples that they carried on to the early church. They imitated Christ by:
- Demonstrating acts of hospitality, generosity, and selfless community
- Loving enemies, offering forgiveness and grace, and peacemaking
- Giving a voice to the voiceless, a father to the fatherless, caring for the widows and the poor, including the marginalized of society, and demonstrating acts of healing and liberation
- Communicating the good news of the Gospel, declaring another reality in which hope exists, and proclaiming the glory and name of God
Obviously none of us will ever have the above list perfect. But what if we began to measure our success by kingdom advancing in this way? The book of Acts is unique in the fact that it begins as a sequel to the gospels. And after 28 chapters, it invites believers to continue in its challenge—almost as if we are writing “Chapter 29” as we live out our lives as an offering to Christ and His Church.
We believe that we will find our identity in our continued proclamation of the Gospel and the stories we tell about our Savior, both corporately and individually. So often, we attribute our success to our talents, gifts, abilities, timing, etc. What stories are you telling to your co-workers, classmates, friends, and family that are attributed to God’s compassion, faithfulness, and provision? What acts of love and humility are you doing in His name?
by Ben Looking Back and Looking Ahead
Monday, December 29, 2008 at 11:51AM God has done some amazing things in 2008 with the Post. We have grown as a community, worshipped as one body, and given ourselves away - all the while seeing people come to know Christ. All glory be to God! This week we have decided to celebrate what God has done this past year and also look ahead expectantly for His future for this ministry.
Please take some time to share your favorite memories of this past year as well as what you are excited about in 2009!

Friday, December 19, 2008 at 11:48AM Last Tuesday night, we celebrated our first Christmas together as the Post! Our team definitely enjoyed bringing some fun Christmas spirit to the Post, and hope you enjoyed the caroling on the fire truck and mustache choir. But more importantly, we want to continue to challenge everyone with the message of giving and serving and spending yourselves--not just during the holidays, but year round. Enjoy your Christmas, with family and friends, while celebrating the life of Jesus!
There is no Post on the 23rd. You'll probably miss us...so here are some pictures to help you cope until the 30th--where we'll be highlighting this past year at the Post!

Endeavor Christmas Party
Sunday, December 14, 2008 at 1:20AM With 11 days until Christmas, it's only appropriate that I've had a long week of Christmas parties. Today was no exception. I started at 1:00 this afternoon, and am just now wrapping up the days festivities at 1:22 in the morning.
Most holiday parties remind me of the importance of living life in community. I've met new people, caught up with old friends, and listened to the stories of those who I once considered acquaintances (but now have gone beyond surface level).
But nothing is more rewarding than sharing in the fellowship with my brothers and sisters by serving others. And that's what 50+ of us did at the Somalian Bantu Refugee Christmas Party for Endeavor Ministries this afternoon. It was great to live out what we have been talking about during the "Advent Conspiracy" series--surrendering the need to consume during this holiday season, and declaring the love of Christ like a bell that rings out in a world with much silence.
All of us were balloon-animal rookies, but we learned quickly how to make swords (some attempted dogs, but their tails were always disproportionate to the body). We also learned how quickly our efforts would be deflated by the joy the children got out of popping the balloons. And the inflatable obstacle course and slide was another adventure. Monitoring them for 100+ kids took a lot of energy (there was a lot of tackling going on--one volunteer ripped his jeans for the sake of the safety of the kids!).
When the games were over, we were able to sit down and watch "The Jesus Film" in the Bantu's native language, and answer some of the children's questions about who Jesus was. We walked each child through stations so that they were able to receive a Christmas present, winter gear, cookies, and a homemade Christmas card. This was definitely the highlight of the day for me. The first little girl--Fatuma--that I walked through had shown up in sandals and a lime green sleeveless tunic dress, so after she picked out her gift, we were able to help her bundle up for the 35-degree winter weather.
We are going to have plenty of opportunities to continue to serve with Endeavor Ministries in the future. In January, will be hosting movie nights for the children, which will include some fun games and prizes. I hope each one of you reading will be able to join us.
