FALL DAY OUT...all the details you need for this Saturday!

In just a few short days--Saturday, November 21st, to be exact--the Post will be hosting an event we've festively named "Fall Day Out." Basically, it's football, paintball, fire, and food...what more could you ask for?

Details, you say? Well here they are!

--We'll be spending the day at Country Lake. If you don't know where that is, you can get directions here. There's no official carpool, but you can use the comment section of this entry to coordinate with others if you'd like!

--This event is from 1pm-8pm, which includes dinner. We're asking everyone for $5, which can be paid on the day of the event to any Post staff member.

--To make details easier, we need you to sign up for football, paintball, or both. You can do this 1 of 3 ways: in the comment section of this BLOG, at the Post INFO BOOTH on Tuesday night, or by EMAILING Laura at loverall@secc.org. Let us know your name and what you would like to participate in.

--If you aren't the athletic type, don't worry. We'll have plenty of fun things for you to do! We're planning on showing college football games all day as well.

a story of giving yourself away...

Our good friend and Post community member JC Williams has given up a year of his life to live at Jefferson Street Baptist Center, a homeless shelter and ministry in town. JSBC has a program called "HOPE", which is like a year-long mission trip in urban and homeless ministry...and JC is participating in this, living and serving the homeless in our city.

You can follow JC's blog here: http://jcwillyams.blogspot.com/. He's got recent posts about his trip to Israel that are sure to encourage you as well. Please support JC by praying for him and encouraging him!

If you want to know more about what he's doing, visit the HOPE site at http://www.hopeforlouisville.com/.

The Gap Week #2

prayer and obedience

We have had 2 great back-to-back nights at the Block, with the Post on Tuesday and Passion on Wednesday. Having Charlie Hall and Fee here really was a blessing. It was great to see everyone who made it out from our community, and welcome those from the Louisville area.

Between the music sets, Louie Giglio was on video talking about living for God's renown and living with expectancy, and he shared with us this quote from A.W. Tozer:

"Prayer will become effective when we stop using it as a substitute for obedience."

What does this look like for the Post community? Are we gathering together to seek God's direction with anticipation that He WILL do something great? And once we do that, are we following our prayers with action, living out the Gospel to those around us who desperately need it?

It's easy to credit ourselves for praying, leading us to believe that nothing else is required of us. But as Louie said, it would be amazing if we were living out the answers to our own prayers by stepping out in courage.
